Linda Attridge, bronze medal in Six NationsTournament

Congratulations to Linda Attridge of Hullbridge TTC, who won a bronze medal in the Six Nations Tournament 2 weeks ago. Lyn said she was really pleased to represent England B and actually win something...... and also because she came very close to beating the 2 women playing for England A, so feels really inspired for this season.
Well done Lin.

Hockley C Withdraw from Division 4

To all Captains in Division 4, of the Southend & District Table Tennis League, please note that Hockley C have withdrawn from Div 4.
Trevor Vincent, who runs this team, knew from the onset that this team may not make it, but he has tried very hard to achieve 3 teams for Hockley. As a new club to our League last Season, Trevor has put a lot of time and effort into developing a new club into our league and should be congratulated on setting up 2 teams and just failing to add a third. The Committee would like to thank Trevor for his efforts to promote table tennis at Greensward School in Hockley. (Hockley TTC was once our strongest club, winning the Premier Division 3 years running, with the superb team of Mike Watts, Ray Eley, Andrew Bawden and Alan Carroll.
Can you please all mark your records that Hockley C have withdrawn and confirm to Jayne that you have noted this change.
 Many thanks
 Ken

ESSEX JUNIOR ASSESSMENT TRIALS Sat/Sun 18/19 SEPTEMBER 2010

TT-ON-SEA @ David Lloyd Table Tennis Club Report

Ten entries, from eight TT-on-Sea @ David Lloyd juniors, played in this Essex Junior ranking tournament.
    - In the under 15 boys, Charlie Bates beat the England ranked Charlie Williams in the first group round. Charlie Bates went on to win the Group and then finished 3rd in the next round of 8 Group winners. A remarkable achievement for Charlie's first ranking tournament. Bede Kelly started slowly, finishing 3rd in his group in round 1, but got into gear to finish 2nd in his round 2 group.
   - In the under 13 boys, Sid Dorn won his first round group easily and in the next round met all the group winners finishing 5th against some high ranked players.
   - The under 15 girls was played as a round robin with Emily Godfrey winning all her matches except to Ify Okafor who is ranked England No. 5.
   - The under 18 girls was also played as a round robin and Emily Godfrey won 5 out of 7 matches to finish 3rd in the tournament.
   - In the Under 18 Boys,  all players had 10 matches - Charlie Bates won 7, Kieran Skeggs 5, Steve Marr 4, Behn Taylor 5 and Elliot Treloghan 3.

Well done TT-on-Sea @ David Lloyd juniors, this is an excellent achievement at this County Level.

Two Rule changes from ETTA

At the ETTA AGM in July, in addition to agreeing to follow the ITTF list of approved rubbers, there were two rule changes accepted and passed which should be observed.
1.      A racket cannot be changed during the course of an individual match unless it becomes accidentally damaged so badly that it is unusable.

2.      A point is not scored against a player for an accidental double hit. An accidental double hit, such as the ball touching the racket and the racket hand, can be ignored.

SDTTL Cancelled 15 September Meeting & Revised 2010/11 Meeting Dates

Hi everyone,

It was originally intended to have a Southend Committee meeting next week, but as so many of the committee attended the Captains meeting on the 07 September, the majority of current issues were covered.  Therefore we have made the next full meeting of the Executive Committee 21 October 2010.

I have also altered the 2011 dates to tally up better with the County meetings.

There are obviously ongoing areas of discussion such as ETTA registration, Rosebowl and Hardbat Tournament which we will conduct by e-mail.

Ken Field, SDTTL Chairman
