"An old friend of Southend Table Tennis, John Fell sadly passed away last Sunday. His funeral is on the 9th May at 11.00. at St. Marys Church, Maldon (don't have precis address).
John worked for Tees Sports and supplied Southend with Tables for our Championships for many years. His friends will be welcome at the church".

This is saddening news. John was known to everyone as a supplier of table table equipment from the small unit on the Bentalls Estate and was always a worthy and enjoyable opponent.
